Yurt 1 is closest to the entrance and the stream and is located a little further away from the other four yurts. The view from the front door looks down the length of the yurt field, while the view from the back door overlooks the stream. It offers more privacy, closer and completely separate facilities and is more sheltered by the trees.
Being closer to the stream means you can sit on the deck and enjoy the peaceful sound of the water flowing. The ford also tends to attract budding young civil engineers building dams (mostly children, but a few mums and dads have been spotted joining in the fun too). This is the perfect choice of yurt if you want to supervise your little ones playing in the stream.
Yurt 1 has a large deck with a quirky table (made from an old sewing machine base), a bench seat, two steamer chairs, a built in stone BBQ, a chimenea and a wood store.
This yurt is the only one with a separate kitchen which is fully equipped with a full size cooker, microwave and large fridge freezer. We completely rebuilt this in 2017 so if you have been before, you will now find it even better! It’s also ideal for sharing with Yurt 2 for larger groups – there is sufficient crockery and equipment for up to 12 people.
The small kitchen for Yurt 1 has:
- A large fridge freezer.
- LPG cooker with oven and grill.
- Microwave, toaster, juicer, espresso/cappuccino maker, coffee percolator.
- Glasses, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils.
- Full running hot and cold water.
- Electric supply useful for charging phones etc.
Yurt 1 also has its own compost toilet and its own outdoor safari shower.
A small camp fire site makes this yurt a perfect choice for those who like to have some privacy. Partially protected from view by woodland trees, in late August and September the deck gets less sun than the other yurts, making it ideal for those who prefer dappled shade.
Inside Yurt 1 is a super king-size bed, and 4 single futons. It also has a Mongolian coffee table and stools and lovely Mongolian wall hangings and other items of ethnic furniture. The large crown lets in masses of light and a rain cap can be removed for star gazing on fine evenings. The central wood burning stove has a fire guard and everything you need to light your fire. The wooden floors are covered with coir matting with decorative rugs on top. We take your safety seriously so each yurt is fitted with a smoke detector, carbon monoxide alarm and a fire extinguisher. All the yurts are waterproof and thickly lined with felt for cosy warmth on cooler days.
