Glamping is all about getting back to nature but with a few creature comforts. At Hidden Valley Yurts you can enjoy the natural simplicity of a rural holiday with nature on your (Mongolian) doorstep but without having to pitch a tent. Our beautiful valley is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy all that the great outdoors has to offer but with comfy beds and a pizza oven! If you don’t want to, you don’t even have to leave our site. Everything is here already for you to enjoy a wonderful holiday.
We have 5 fully furnished, beautifully painted, Mongolian yurts.
The yurts are located in a spacious south-facing wildflower meadow. There are plenty of footpaths to explore, a small stream runs along the bottom of the field and there are views to the west of the Welsh hills and the sunset.
Each yurt sits on its own individual wooden deck, with chairs, tables, benches, a chimenea, a built in brick BBQ and a wood store.
Comfort and luxury is what glamping is about and a good night’s sleep is an essential element of glamping. Yurts 1, 2 and 3 have a super king-size bed for added luxury and yurts 4 and 5 have a king-size bed. There are single wooden futons or daybeds in all of the yurts. Bedding is not provided although can be rented in advance (see here for details) or you will need to bring your own.
Each yurt is beautifully hand painted and individually furnished. The yurts are waterproof and thickly lined for cosy warmth on cooler days. Because of this insulation it takes less than half an hour for the wood burning stove to heat the yurt up. Each yurt is lit with a ring of solar powered fairy lights and solar lights outside. Inside each yurt the large crown lets in light and on request a rain cap can be removed for stargazing on fine evenings.
We have two separate kitchens on the main deck. Each kitchen has 2 full size cookers, a dishwasher, microwave, freezer, crockery, plenty of cooking utensils and an espresso machine. Each yurt has its own fridge and food cupboard. There is plenty of seating on the surrounding deck too, including 1 high chair.
Yurt 1 has exclusive use of a separate kitchen near it which is fully equipped.
Each yurt now has its own private bathroom (installation completed for the 2022 season). Yurts 2, 3, 4 and 5 each have their own boutique style private bathrooms with a bath and a shower over including a relaxing rainfall shower, flushing toilet and hand basin with shaver light and socket.
Below the main deck there is a wood-burning pizza oven, communal BBQ, safari style dining tent and central campfire with seating around. We supply firewood where possible from off cuts or you can help yourself from our 40 acres of woodland, but please don’t saw down living trees (yes, this has happened!).
We have a great pub at the end of our lane which is about a mile away and Monmouth, Chepstow, Usk and Raglan are all about a 15-20 minute drive away. For more on what there is to do in the area see our Out and About page.
We are a really quiet rural location and because this is a valley, noise gets amplified, so please don’t choose us if you are looking to party the night away! We have a complete ban on amplified music and we will only take bookings from adult groups after we’ve talked to you.
There are no caravans, touring tents or large groups at Hidden Valley, so there will only ever be a maximum of 26 people on site. We also have The Lake House in a separate private area away from the glamping site, but with 80 acres of land our hidden valley will never feel overcrowded.
First time visitors nearly always bring too much kit – we don’t mind but this is camping made easy so it’s probably worth reading our Facilities & What’s Included page before you pack!
Hidden Valley Yurts is all about peace and quiet, playing and laughter. We don’t have a gift shop, or vending machines.
With our guest in mind, we wanted each property to have the "Home Away From Home" vibe.
